“Anybody can grow their own food as long as they know how. You don’t need green fingers – any colour will do – you can grow food virtually anywhere.”

Linda Galvad learnt from her psychology studies that you are what you eat and decided to make eating vegetables a lot more exciting and healthier to boot. She embarked upon researching the best heirloom and organic seeds available in the world and chose the over 200 year old family owned Franchi Sementi brand for their purity and high standards of development and control of their product. The natural progression from importing the best seeds was to grow organic seedlings and create organic vegetable gardens like the Saxon Hotel rooftop garden in Sandhurst, Johannesburg.

Linda continues, “Contrary to widespread belief, growing your own food doesn’t necessarily require a large area of land, or plentiful space. Many veggies and herbs can easily be grown in pots on windowsills or balconies.

“Growing your own food offers way more nutrition than frozen, processed or chemically treated produce – you’ll also have full control over the growing environment of your food. Not to mention that getting outdoors is great exercise, and the plentiful sunshine will boost your Vitamin D levels. Finally your food will taste WAY better than you could have ever imagined.”
